María del Prado Domercq
joined the Center for BioNano-Interactions (CNBI) as a Masters student in October 2012. Her research focuses on assessing the environmental fate and behaviour of the nano-enabled products, particularly those related to green technologies and renewable energy generation. Her research will try to predict likely routes of these particles into the environment, likely chemicals that such nanoparticles could interact with or sequester from the environment, and evaluate life cycle issues like their capacity to dissolve, persist and/or bioacumulate. The data generated will contribute to re-assessing the capacity of the existing regulations concerning the use of nanomaterialsin green energy applications
Ms Prado graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid with a BSc. in Chemistry in June 2012. During her studies she worked at the Ecole National Supérieure des Ingeniéures en Arts Chimiques et Technologiques of Toulouse studying the presence of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in bulk deposition, and at the Analytical Chemistry department of her home university in the development of magnetic electrochemical biosensors.
