Research Master's degree within UCD Centre for Cybersecurity & Cybercrime Investigation

Scholarships are now available in UCD Centre for Cybersecurity & Cybercrime Investigation (UCD CCI) for undergraduates or postgraduates interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity. The scholarships form part of a joint initiative between UCD CCI and the Banking & Payments Federation Ireland Financial Services Cybersecurity Community.

The scholarships apply to research on cyber threats that specifically impact the financial services sector, and may address issues and challenges in technical, financial, legal, or social domains. As a result, applications will not be restricted to specific disciplines, but will be accepted from any candidate who can demonstrate interest in this area through the submission of a well-researched application.

Sponsorship details

Sponsorship will be for two years, with a stipend of €16,000 per annum plus all fees paid. During this period, successful applicants will be given a unique opportunity to work with experts in the Centre, engaging in research on real challenges, using real datasets. In addition to working closely with members of the financial services sector, there may also be opportunities to work with other CCI stakeholders, including the Irish government and international law enforcement agencies. As a result, students will have exposure to a range of problems affecting diverse institutions, providing a unique opportunity to learn and to build knowledge directly relevant to a career in cybersecurity.

After two years, students will graduate with a Master in Computer Science. High-achieving students may also be provided with an opportunity to transfer onto a PhD programme.
