Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 1: Neuroimmune Communication

Applications sought for a research specialist position (PhD or MD/PhD, Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1) with background in Immunology/Neurosciences/ Cell biology with emphasis on neuroimmunology or neuro-inflammation in animals and humans. This full-time, academic professional position requires the ability to carry out externally funded research either independently or collaboratively. Suitable candidates should have PhD +/-MD in either biology, medicine, physiology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, neurosciences. Experience in FACS, cell sorting, in vivo behavior and skin disease models would be desirable.

Salary: €33,975 - €41,181 per annum - appointment on range will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 2: Demodex biology and pathogenic potential

Reporting to: Prof. Frank Powell, MD 

Applications sought for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 2 position with the Rosacea and Acne group in the UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology. The candidate will contribute with his/her special expertise to help understanding the biology and potential pathogenic potential of human Demodex mites that inhabit facial skin. The relevance of Demodex mites to the pathogenesis of a skin condition called rosacea and the potential mechanisms of action of therapeutic interventions used to treat this condition on the biology of Demodex mites will be also be studied. Suitable candidates should have a PhD in biology, >2 years postdoctoral research, track record of communication of research to a wide range of stake holders and the ability to work independently in a scientific setting. Experience in relevant experimental techniques such as microscopy, microdissection (and/or similar techniques), cell culture, PCR and ELISA would be required. Experience in isolation of peripheral blood neutrophils and mononuclear cells would be desirable.

Salary: €38,155 - €46,255 per annum- appointment on range will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Research Fellow: Skin Inflammation and Immunity

Applications sought for a research specialist position (PhD +/-MD) with background in Immunology and Molecular Biology/ Cell Biology with emphasis on innate immunity or innate lymphoid cells in animals and humans for skin research. This full-time, academic professional position requires the ability to carry out externally funded research either independently or collaboratively. An adequate degree of professional maturity is required and substantial post-qualification experience. Suitable candidates should have
- background in innate immunity, preferentially but not exclusively in skin immunology.
- experience in isolating immune cells from mice and humans, FACS, bioassays, molecular biology, cell biology, work with transgenic mice. 
An understanding of technologies exploring cross-communication between adaptive and innate immunity are of advantage.

Salary: €46,544 - €51,716 per annum- appointment on range will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Research Fellow: Skin Neurobiology and Itch

Applications sought for a senior research specialist position with background in Neurosciences and Molecular Biology/Cell Biology (PhD +/-MD) with emphasis on Itch and/or Neuroimmunology research in animals and humans. This full-time, academic professional position requires the ability to carry out externally funded research either independently or collaboratively. An adequate degree of professional maturity is required and substantial post-qualification experience. Suitable candidates should have 
- background in itch or pain research or neurosciences, with more than two years of experience in the fields of peripheral and/or central itch or pain mechanisms and molecular biology.
- experience with in vivo behaviour studies, ex vivo studies in animals (genetically modified, pharmacological approaches), isolating neuronal cells, FACS, molecular biology, cell biology, immunohistochemistry.

Salary: €46,544 - €64,996 per annum- appointment on range will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
Duration: 3 years
