UCD Charles Institute has access to a suite of core technology platforms in the adjacent UCD Conway Institute of Biomolecular & Biomedical Research. Utilising advanced core technology expertise and equipment in areas such as genomics, proteomics, imaging and flow cytometry enables a wide range of data driven experimentation and underpins dermatology research activities. 


The UCD Conway Genomics Core has been offering genomics solutions to academic and commercial customers for more than 10 years in a customisable range of services for each stage of the research pathway, from experimental design and strategy to final publication.


In the UCD Conway Proteomics Core, the instrumentation is capable of covering all aspects of modern proteomic science including quantitative proteomics, protein post-translational modifications and protein-protein interactions. The facility offers dedicated strategic support of staff on both the analytical and bioinformatics side to enable research and commercial partners to take full advantage of their results.


The UCD Conway Imaging Core focuses on providing contemporary imaging technologies and know-how to researchers in the wider scientific community; both in academia and industry. The consolidated instrumentation suite spans all aspects of light and electron microscopy as well as sample preparation and image processing and analysis facilities. The team use their technical expertise to assist in the widest possible range of applications for microscopy, in advancing the development of new applications and new imaging technologies.

Flow Cytometry

The UCD Conway Flow Cytometry Core uses this incredibly efficient technique for counting and examining the physical and biological characteristics of cells and particles. The technique has many applications in humans, animals, plants and microorganisms. The expert team assist with the analysis of complex results for clients and research partners.
