Civil engineers develop and manage:

  • Transport infrastructure;
  • Traffic planning;
  • Design of roads and rail;
  • Movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

The annual expenditure on highway construction and maintenance in Ireland is currently at an unprecedented level. Because of this, Transportation Engineering is of paramount national importance, and will continue to be so for some time to come.  A Civil Engineering degree provides graduates with the necessary skills to embark on a career in Transportation Engineering.
