Best Paper in Bridges at 2012 Bridge and Concrete Research in Ireland Conference

Monday, 5 September, 2016

Jennifer Keenahan, a PhD student in the School, has won ‘Best Paper in Bridges’ at this year’s Bridge and Concrete Research in Ireland conference.

Jennifer beat off stiff competition from over 40 bridge related papers from around the country. Her paper described the novel concept of ‘Drive By’ bridge inspection, a process whereby sensors on a truck can be used to detect damage in a bridge as it drives overhead.

Jennifer is supervised by Professor Eugene OBrien and the work was part of a collaboration with Dr Patrick McGetrick (formerly UCD; now University of Kyoto) and Dr Arturo Gonzalez. ‌

Jennifer is pictured here receiving the prize from Brian Madden of O’Connor Sutton Cronin, Consulting Engineers.
