Applications are invited for the temporary part-time position of Public Engagement & Involvement Officer to support the development and implementation of education, public engagement (EPE) and public & patient involvement (PPI) activities in Systems Biology Ireland, UCD Conway Institute and UCD Charles Institute, as well as within other health-related disciplines across the wider university community.

The Public Engagement & Involvement Officer will play a key role in enhancing the Research Institutes international reputation and communicating the impacts arising from on-going research. The successful candidate will work closely with Institute Management, the research community and where applicable, external partners, to understand how these ambitions can be realised in each area.

Qualifications

Mandatory

• Relevant third level qualification, preferably in the life sciences.
• Ability to manage a diverse workload and deliver high quality completed projects to tight deadlines
• Proven experience in establishing, developing a diverse range of effective partnerships
• Experience of working within a complex organisation either in an education or health research setting
• Ability to represent UCD credibly and effectively and develop key external relations
• Excellent organisational, financial and administrative skills
• Strong analytical skills and sound judgment
• Excellent oral and writing skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proven track record in the successful collation and management of information, particularly using relevant information technology
• Proven track record in reporting and evaluating project performance
• Event management skills
• Full, clean driving licence

Desirable

• Ideally 2+ years relevant experience
• Expertise and/or a postgraduate qualification in Science Education or Science Communication
• Knowledge and experience of the coordination of projects engaging the public, patients or young people
• Experience in proposal design and development
• Experience of Marketing, PR, Social Media Marketing & Management

Salary: €40,000 per annum pro-rata (€24,000 per annum part-time).
