NIBRT – The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research & Training based in Dublin, Ireland - is a centre of excellence for research and training in Bioprocessing technology. The Complete Process and Product Characterisation Laboratory (CPPCL), which includes the Glycobiology Laboratory (PI: Prof. Pauline M. Rudd), is a central part of NIBRT's research strategy is seeking to recruit a highly-motivated research assistant to work as part of the contract glycan analytics team. The appointee will join an existing team who carry out custom glycan analytics for biopharmaceutical clients using a combination of HPLC and mass spectrometry based methods.
Research assistant position is available in the contract analytics group. The appointee will be responsible for the successful completion of contract research projects for NIBRTs biopharmaceutical clients. The appointee will also be involved in the development of new glycan and protein analytical workflows with the existing team. This work will require a significant amount of analytical expertise in both HLPC/UPLC and mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will be required to generate data suitable for industrial reports and peer-reviewed publications.
The ideal candidate should hold a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related life science. Knowledge of HPLC is considered advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. Mass spectrometry experience is considered advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. Applicants must have strong documentation skills, both oral and written. The appointee must be highly numerate and possess good problem solving skills. The ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team and to prioritize and manage varied and complex projects is essential. Knowledge of glycobiology is beneficial but not essential.
Glycobiology and glycan analytics will be a central theme to this role and experience or familiarity with related methods would be considered an advantage.
