Congratulations on being offered your place on a UCD graduate programme! Now find out what to do to accept your offer, and what to do if you’re an international student.
Your letter of offer
- Accept the offer by the date specified in your letter
- Be sure to submit any supporting documents requested
- Next, pay your fees by the date advised
International students
First, download the International Students Handbook (pdf) to find out if your country requires a visa to study in Ireland
Preparing your visa application
Gather the required documents:
- Proof of offer
- EFT record showing transfer of fees to UCD account
- Proof of no accompanying dependents
- Proof of competancy in Engish
- Proof of private medical insurance
- Statement of intent to return to country of origin after studies
Be sure to begin the visa application 8-12 weeks before your course begins.
Funding recipients – applying for a PPS number
If you are in receipt of funding from UCD or a UCD research account, you will need to apply for a PPS number from your local Social Welfare Office.
Bring your:
- Birth certificate
- Passport
- Proof of address
- If you are from outside the EU, your Garda Registration Card
Opening a bank account
Opening an Irish bank account can be done in person in the campus branches of Bank of Ireland or Allied Irish Bank.
You will need:
- Your student card
- Passport
- Proof of address
Finding accommodation
Accommodation is available either in:
Landlords may require proof of student status, photo ID, the first month’s rent and a deposit.
