Registering for Postgraduate Degrees The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) may be awarded on the basis of research carried out by the candidate, under the supervision of a professor or lecturer, the results of which are submitted to University College Dublin in a thesis. The Institute does not award postgraduate degrees. Postgraduate research students are affiliated to UCD Conway Institute by virtue of the Conway status of their supervisor.
