New alliance of oxygen-related researchers
UCD Conway Research Fellow, Dr Debra Higgins is extending an invitation to researchers with an interest in hypoxia-related disease processes, UCD based and beyond, to participate in a new Conway Oxygen-related Research Group (CORE) that will meet on the first Thursday of each month in the UCD Conway Institute from 5-6pm (schedule dates below).
The Conway Oxygen-related Research Group (CORE) aim to:
• consolidate hypoxia-related researchers into a cohesive group within UCD,
• offer guidance, knowledge and support to postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows,
• provide an open and friendly environment where novel scientific findings can be presented and constructively discussed,
• aid in the optimisation of experimental techniques and protocols, and
• offer researchers access to the large breadth of 'hypoxia' knowledge which has been cultivated by the group members.
Current members include internationally renowned hypoxia experts whose research interests focus on diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, acute and chronic kidney injury, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer biology and metastases, and epigenetics.
The meetings will be held on the first Thursday of every month with the exception of December 2012 and January 2013. They will comprise two 20-minute presentations with 10 minutes each for questions. Those who would like to join the group are kindly asked to email Debra at debra.higgins@ucd.ie for inclusion on the mailing list.
