Transformations
Minister for Education & Science, Mr Bat O’Keefe officially launched the Transformations exhibition and commemorative book in the Science Gallery, Trinity College yesterday.
The decade since 1998 has been an extraordinary period of transformation in Ireland’s higher education and research system. The impetus for this change was the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions (PRTLI); a package of Government and philanthropic funding administered by the Higher Education Authority (HEA).
This investment in capital projects and research programmes ushered in a new era for research and innovation and fundamentally altered the research landscape in higher education.
The Transformations exhibition celebrates a decade of achievement by showcasing some of the research that impacts on our day-to-day lives; helping us to get around faster, to live longer and more fully, to plan more effectively and to understand our environment. Exhibits are fully interactive and designed to engage with the general public.
The Transformations commemorative book entitled, “Transformations: How research is changing Ireland” narrates the research journeys that began during the last decade and great strides made to date.
UCD Conway Institute is represented in the book, exhibition and seminar programme. On Friday, November 28th at 1pm, Dr Keith Murphy will give a seminar entitled, “Will we ever know how our brain works: Mission Impossible”.
