  • Recent Advances in Synthesis and Chemical Biology X
    The CSCB held its tenth annual symposium, ‘Recent Advances in Synthesis and Chemical Biology X’, on Friday 9th December 2011, at the Health Sciences Centre, University College Dublin. Almost 200 delegates attended the one-day meeting at which five international speakers had been invited to give plenary lectures. The scientific programme was organised by Professor Pat Guiry, University College Dublin.

  • Dr Francesca Paradisi receives SFI Research Frontiers Programme funding
    Conway Fellow, Dr Francesca Paradisi of the UCD School of Chemistry & Chemical Biology and Centre for Synthesis & Chemical Biology has recently been awarded SFI Research Frontiers Programme funding.

    The Minister for Research & Innovation, Mr Seán Sherlock T.D. announced the Government funded awards to 79 research projects earlier this month. Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) will administer the scheme, which amounts to €15 million over the next four years.

  • Celtic Catalysts wins at The Irish Times’ InterTradeIreland awards
    The Irish Times’ InterTradeIreland awards were held during the week ended March 4th 2011. The research and development innovation award went to Celtic Catalysts and its work on developing catalysts that allow pharma firms to formulate drug molecules without unwanted or potentially harmful traits.
  • Forging ahead with metals to boost green energy
    Professor Martin Albrecht and his team at the UCD School of Chemistry and Chemical Biology are investigating at how using metals and their surroundings
    might help us generate clean, green energy.

  • New 3-D visual of intestinal growth promoting peptide - Dr Chandral Hewage
    UCD Conway researchers have determined the 3-dimensional solution structure of glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP-2) for the first time using nuclear magnetic resonance and molecular modelling. This visual was selected as the cover image of the current issue of the biochemical journal, FEBS Letters.
