The DEI sponsors an exciting range of activities. In addition, DEI Associates and Fellows are engaged in a wide variety of cutting-edge individual and collaborative research projects on European affairs from various disciplinary perspectives, including political science, law, business, economics, geography and sociology. .For those interested in pursuing graduate training on European affairs, the DEI cooperates with a variety of graduate (Master’s and PhD) programmes offered by the School of Politics and International Relations and other schools at UCD. Javier Solana receives honorary doctorate, delivers 2009 DEI Distinguished Lecture

Dr. Javier Solana, the EU’s High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, was awarded the degree Doctor of Laws honoris causa and delivered the 2009 DEI Distinguished Lecture during a visit to UCD on 22 April 2009. DEI contributes to Oireachtas report on Ireland, the EU and the Lisbon Treaty

A UCD Dublin European Institute paper, "Ireland's Future in Europe: Scenarios and Implications," prepared at the request of the Oireachtas Sub-committee on Ireland's Future in the EU, contributed significantly to the sub-committee's report to the Government regarding policy options after the June 2008 referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
