DeLTTI (Distance Learning through Telematics Initiative) is UCD's newest teaching space. It combines thelatest in computer technology with disciplinary expertise from one of Ireland'soldest and most respected universities.

DeLTTI's mission statement is to facilitate the delivery of state of the art courses by UCD staff to students who have traditionally not been able to avail of our traditional AdultEducation Programme.

What is DeLTTI? An on-line teaching environment via the Internet which has been developed at UCD to facilitate students interacting with each other and with their tutor, without having to be present at the same time or place. Students from Blessington to Ballymena, from Derry to Doolin, can now participate in classes together, discussing literature, understanding psychology, or exploring Ireland's rich archaeological past.

As with any other lecture course, material is presented at weekly intervals through the use of a class management tool called TopClass. Unlike traditional courses, however, students may work through each lecture at their own pace, retracing sections that might seem unclear initially. Students are provided with the opportunity to participate in class discussions and also have facilities for e-mailing the lecturer, self-testing, secondary reading, hot links to related sites on the Internet, and more beside.

Our course offerings are limited this term, but will increase in the spring. To find out more, explore this, our web site. Or e-mail us at the address below.
