The Institute of Discovery was pleased to host an extremely successful workshop in conjunction with NovaUCD on the the Knowledge Transfer (KT) Scouts initiative on July 18th in the Kilty Discovery Suite, O'Brien Centre for Science. The Initiative was launched last March at NovaUCD by Dr Stephen Donoghue and its aim was to train selected postdoctoral fellows, PhD students and research administrators in identifying Intellectual Property (IP) in their area and to liaise with the relevant Case Managers to bring this IP to market.
This event was over-subscribed so for those who did not receive a place in our July Workshop, there will be another workshop in the coming semester.
The programme will suit individuals who have an interest in the innovation and commercialisation process and who wish to learn about industry engagement.
For more detail or to register contact Stephen.donoghue [at] ucd.ie.
It is anticipated that the KT Scouts will be able to commit to the programme for one year and that meetings will be held twice a month with NovaUCD staff. A time commitment of 2-3 hours a month is expected. There will be an opportunity for the participants to gain experience in the technology transfer process and in the use of various IP software packages and marketing platforms. Participants will also be exposed to key contacts within their relevant sector and will have an opportunity to build networks within this sector. There will also be scope to collaborate with Smurfit graduates and develop strategic commercial skill sets.
