O’Donnell + Tuomey shortlisted for the RIBA 2012 Stirling Prize

The shortlist has been announced for the 2012 RIBA Stirling Prize featuring six uniquely different buildings from across the UK which will now compete for architecture’s highest accolade and a £20,000 prize from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

For the fourth time, and the second year running, O’Donnell + Tuomey are shortlisted for this prestigious prize with the Lyric Theatre, Belfast project. Both Shelia and John have been with the UCD School of Architecture for many years and John is currently Professor of Architectural Design. The other projects and competitors include:

  • The Hepworth Wakefield, Yorkshire by David Chipperfield Architects
  • London Olympic Stadium by Populous
  • Maggie's Centre, Gartnavel, Glasgow by OMA
  • New Court, London by OMA with Allies and Morrison
  • Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge by Stanton Williams

The RIBA Stirling Prize is now in its seventeenth year; the 2012 winner will be announced at a special event in Manchester on Saturday 13 October.
