PhD Centennial Scholarships

School of Architecture, University College Dublin

Following the centenary of the School of Architecture in 2011/12, two scholarships have been established to support doctoral studies in its areas of existing and emerging research strength. The areas are considered to include the following, but all excellent proposals will be considered:

  • Conservation and Heritage
  • Sustainable Building Design and Performance
  • Urban Design
  • Landscape
  • History of Architecture and Designed Landscapes
  • Theory and Design of Architecture

While pursuing PhD track research under supervision of academic staff from the school and its broader academic network, recipients of the scholarships will also be expected to contribute fully to the emerging interdisciplinary research culture at the School of Architecture, UCD, engaging with the core and elective graduate modules, critical and reflective practice, and research-driven seminars, symposia, conferences and publications.

The doctoral fellowship is valued at up to €21,000 per annum inclusive of fees. It will be awarded initially for one year, renewable for two additional years.

The closing date for applications is 12:00 (noon) on 12th November 2012.
