About us

The Bridge and Transport Reseach Group is based in the UCD School of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at University College Dublin. The Group aims to establish and enhance the effectiveness of a cluster of collaborating researchers, working closely with other national and international institutions, in the field of bridge and transport engineering research development. The group currently has researchers with interests in the following areas:

Symposia

The 6th National Symposium for Bridge and Transport Infrastructure in Ireland is scheduled for 6-7 September 2012 (in Dublin, jointly hosted by DIT and TCD). 2012 Bridge and Infrastructure Research in Ireland

BaTIR organised the first symposium on Bridge Engineering Research in Ireland, which was help in Dublin, August 2002. Since then, BaTIR have actively participated in the Organization and/or Scientific Committes of the symposiums that has followed. The second symposium took place on the 5th of November 2004 and it was held in QUB, Belfast. In 2006 the Infrastructure Research Group TCD joined with the UCD Bridge and Transport Infrastructure Research Group to co-sponsor the third symposium and to expand the event to include topics relating to all aspects of transport infrastructure provision and management (12 & 13th October 2006). The 4th and 5th National Symposia for Bridge and Transport Infrastructure in Ireland took place jointly with Concrete Research in Ireland, and they were held in Galway (December 2008) and Cork (September 2010).
