Geophysical Assessment of Railway Infrastructure
Geophysical techniques have the advantage of penetrating the surface, non-invasively and non-destructively and observing the internal structure and mechanical properties within infrastructure systems . Researchers at UCD are researching and developing a number of these methods such as the Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW), 2D-R esistivity and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) techniques, for assessing the stability of railway embankments and the condition of track beds.
