Energy is an issue of huge importance, today, both nationally and internationally and is also one of the core activities within the school. Our main areas of expertise are power generation, renewable energy, automotive engineering, building energy and refrigeration.
We run both taught and research modules in a range of different energy-related disciplines. Throughout these, emphasis is placed not just on gaining specialist knowledge, but also in attaining the critical skills necessary to gauge how the various components in the global energy system fit together and impact one another. There is a strong interdisciplinary element to our energy research and the school also has ties with research groups in areas such as smart grid design, biofuels and buildings.
