UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering

"Materials Science and Engineering plays a strong role in both our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Several faculty members of the School are focussed on materials research and key areas of investigation include biomaterials, nanomaterials, ceramics, coatings, metal casting. Materials are also key enablers in other areas and other experts in the department in such areas as high-precision manufacturing, heat transfer and design.

We have well-equipped laboratories within the School and across UCD for microscopic and physico-chemical characterisation of materials as well as computer modeling and mechanical property measurement.
