UCD Engineering Student Wins Lecture Review Competition
Miriam Bourke, a second year UCD Electrical and Electronic Engineering student has won the competition to review Prof. Michael Kelly’s lecture on 'Engineering Research for Economic Growth' (the second in the Intel Lecture Series on Engineering Research & Innovation, organised by the Irish Academy of Engineering (IAE)) which was delivered last December in UCD.
The review competition was open to undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering students from all Irish HEIs. Miriam's winning submission earned her a prize of €250, presented by Prof John Kelly, Chairman of the IAE Taskforce on Engineering Research in Irish Economic Development. Her review will be published in the March/April issue of the Engineers' Journal.
The next event in the Intel Lecture Series will be a lecture by Prof. John McCanny, Director of the Institute of Electronics, Communications & Information Technology at Queen’s University Belfast at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 21 February 2012 in The Great Hall, Lanyon Building, Queen’s University Belfast. The lecture entitled ‘Research & Innovation – Successful Models for Economic Impact’ is open to the public.
