Teaching & Learning
The College of Engineering and Architecture aims to provide a world-class educational experience for its students. Many of our academic staff have, in recent years, been recognised internationally, nationally and institutionally as excellent teachers and developers of innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
Our engineering programmes are based on strong scientific and mathematical foundations, coupled with the development of strong problem-solving, design and research skills, preparing our graduates to take on many of the world’s major challenges. The design process is also central to our architecture and landscape architecture programmes. The development and enhancement of the creative capabilities of our students is particularly key to these programmes, fostering the student’s capacity to produce novel and innovative solutions to problems.
The strong research culture within the College will continue to inform our teaching and learning activities, creating a culture of enquiry and innovation amongst our students, preparing them for the rapidly changing environment they will enter upon graduation.
The educational environment provided is aimed at the promotion and encouragement of deep student engagement with their studies. Our education will reinforce the importance of active citizenship, providing students with the skills and expertise, the critical thinking and social awareness skills so they may have a positive impact on the world through their professional activities.
