Dr Conrad Childs has been a member of the Fault Analysis Group since 1987, a Joint Director of the group since 2005 and the Tullow Oil lecturer in Structural Geology since 2009. The function of the FAG is to carry out basic scientific research on all aspects of faults and other types of fracture and to apply the results to practical problems, principally in the fields of hydrocarbon and minerals exploration and production.
Dr Childs current interests include the growth of fault zones and fault systems, the impact of faults on fluid flow and the application of DEM (discrete element method) mechanical modelling approaches to many technical issues related to faulting.
