Professor Wim Meijer’s research team focuses on water quality and human and animal health.
Their work allows the assessment of the impact of urban and agricultural activities on the quality of drinking and recreational waters and recreational beaches; it assesses the impact of these activities on human health and the (local) economy and is a major tool for policy development by local authorities and the national government. A second line of research focuses on individual pathogens as well microbial communities in relation to the development of disease, in particular bovine and cameline endometritis and equine pneumonia.
