The automated soil respiration system is used to measure the efflux of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the soil surface. The set-up consists of an infra-red gas analyser, a chamber/profile multiplexer and seven automated chambers (with permanently installed soil collars).
The chambers open and close automatically and are measured sequentially, through the multiplexer, to obtain near continuous measurements of soil respiration.
