Monitoring Europe's Forests to Support European Forest Policies

Dr Daniel McInerney, Institute for Environment and Sustainability, Joint Research Centre
Dr Daniel McInerney is a Post-Doc researcher in the Forest Action at the Institute for Environment and Sustainability of the Joint Research Centre. He is involved in the development of Web-based forestry information systems in the context of the EuroGEOSS project and also the use of remote sensing to map and monitor forests in Europe. Daniel holds an honour's degree in Forestry from University College Dublin, and M.Sc. in Geographic Information Science from the University of Edinburgh and a Ph.D. in remote sensing applied to the national forest inventory from University College Dublin. Before joining the JRC, Daniel was working at University College Dublin, Urban Institute Ireland and previously held a post as a research assistant at the British Forestry Commission as well as working at the Finnish Forest Research Institute.
