Launch of Earth Institute's Strategic Priority Support Mechanism 2020 Call

Published: Thursday, 05 March, 2020

This week, we are launching our third annual call for proposals to identify short-term strategic priorities for the Earth Institute. The Strategic Priority Support Mechanism 2020 will continue to stimulate interdisciplinary environmental research activity across the Institute, the University and beyond, with funding of up to €10,000 awarded to each of 2-4 multidisciplinary teams per annum.

Full details of the call, including eligibility, evaluation and the application process can be found here. The application deadline is 5pm on  Thursday 30 April 2020 – if you have any questions please contact either myself or our new Research Manager, Caitriona Devery.  We particularly encourage proposals with outcomes in our four cross-cutting dimensions; enterprise and innovation, policy and governance, society and engagement and, of course, research and education.

Last year, three strategic priority projects were supported through the scheme: DIVERSICROP led by Meriel McClatchie and Sonia Negrao, the Centre for Irish Towns led by Philip Crowe and Orla Murphy, and HEMPHUB led by Rainer Melzer and Antoinette Perry. These projects are progressing well and we’ll have a more detailed update on each later in the spring.
