UCD Urban Modelling Group to expand its resources

In this digital era 3D Printing is gaining popularity. The first top level 3D Printer will soon arrive on the UCD campus purchased as part of Prof. Debra F. Laefer’s recent European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept award. The equipment will become part of a growing suite of resources available through Prof. Laefer’s Urban Modelling Group (UMG) based in the UCD School of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering.

If you are interested, in receiving training for or access to a fuse deposition printer with a .300 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm print area with 250 micro resolution, please contact Dr. Eilish Lynch (eilish.lynch@ucd.ie).

In addition the Urban Modelling Group is making remote sensing data for the south side of Dublin’s city centre available. There are two sets currently available for download: a dense Aerial Laser Scanning (acquired in Winter 2007) and Historic Ireland’s Built Environment and Road Network Inventories Access (HIBERNIA) (acquired 1990-2006). Links to both datasets are given below.
