The Environ 2015 Colloquium took place between 08 and 10 April 2015 at ITSligo. It was fitting venue, considering that the first Environ took place 25 years ago in the then Sligo RTC. The 25th Colloquium was a record-breaker in a number of areas, including the most abstracts submitted and presented and the greatest number of attendees.
As with previous years, there was an excellent showing from both the UCD Earth Institute and the Earth and Natural Sciences Doctoral Studies Programme. The Climate Change session was chaired by Dr Zuefeng Cui of the UCD Earth Institute and the UCD School of Mathematical Sciences. Dr Tamara Hochstrasser, also of the Institute, presented a paper as part of the Environmental Policy and Communications session.
Students from across the Programme presented well and won a number of prizes: Tara Diriligen (UCD; supervised by Professor Tom Bolger, SBES) won the prize for best soils paper - the second year in a row that a UCD Earth Institute affiliated researcher won this prize - and Alwynne McGeever (ENS Affiliate Candidate from TCD, supervised by Professor Fraser MItchell) won the overall best paper award.
Environ 2016 will be hosted by the University of Limerick.
