On Sunday 28th June 2015, Professor Micheal Bruen who is an environmental hydrologist with UCD Earth Institute discussed the importance of water on RTE Radio 1's science series "Bright Sparks" presented by Dr. Shane Bergin. The segment was entitled "The Future of Food and the Wealth of Water". 

Professor Bruen explains the importance of water as a resource and the processes by which our drinking water arrives with us.

He explains "Understanding how water moves, how we can find it, how we can use it, how we can clean it up when it is polluted is very very important not just for us but for the physical health of the whole planet".
