Dr. Tara Quinn Associate Research Fellow, University of Exeter Adaptation to Environmental Change in Coastal Areas In this presentation I will discuss adaptation decisions following extreme weather events and how certain interpretations or framings of events can lead to a divergence between short term and long term planning objectives. Different interpretations of risks will be discussed, and the configurations of uncertainties facing decision makers in the public and private sector will be explored using findings from interviews and workshops.
Dr. Tara Quinn is an Associate Research Fellow in Geography at the University of Exeter and has a particular interest in how place attachment influences peoples’ understanding and responses to flood risks, and on institutional framings of climate change adaptation and associated risks. Dr. Quinn holds a BSc from Durham University, MSc from The University of Edinburgh and a PhD from the University of East Anglia. She has published in such journals as The Lancet, Nature Climate Change and Environment and Planning A.
