Transforming Ireland Series

Mobilising innovation to meet energy and climate change obligations and sustainable economic development

An important key to moving transformation forward is to provide a window where some of the best talents in research and enterprise can present their achievements and their ideas, where interaction is encouraged, and where the interested public and those in the policy process can enrich their understanding of the issues, choices, opportunities and tradeoffs.

And so we UCD Earth Sciences Institute, TCD TrinityHaus and Dublin City Council, under the TCD-UCD Innovation Alliance and in collaboration with Business in the Community and the main agencies involved involved in delivering policy (Comhar Sustainable Development Council, Enterprise Ireland, EPA, Geological Survey of Ireland, Marine Institute, Met Éireann, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and Teagasc).- have organised the Transforming Ireland series, where each week we provide a window for the presentation of the ideas, achievements and plans of leaders of business and research. The overall theme is Transforming Ireland – mobilising innovation to meet energy and climate change obligations and sustainable economic development.  The focus is on using innovation to convert challenge into opportunity. We are bringing key leaders from the research, policy and enterprise communities together to focus on a range of challenges and opportunities. The public are invited, and admission is free.

The series runs from March to June 2010, and begins again from September through to December 2010.

This series is follow-on to the very successful seminar series Meeting the Challenge of Climate Change which was convened in 2009.

Details of all the Transforming Ireland seminars, both upcoming and previous, can be found on the individual pages for each seminar, including a video and presentation slides of all the previous seminars.
