  • Focus: Support for SMEs. Research Institute works directly on business opportunity

This scheme is open to any small company with a business opportunity or problem that they want to explore with UCD Earth Institute. The objective of the Innovation Voucher initiative is to build links between Ireland's Research Institutes and small businesses. More Details »

  • Funding Agency: Enterprise Ireland
  • Funding Available: 80% towards eligible costs of the research project up to €200,000
  • Focus: The Innovation Partnership Programme encourages Irish based companies (of all sizes) to work with Irish research institutes resulting in mutually beneficial co-operation and interaction.

This initiative offers financial support to companies who engage in collaborative research projects with Irish research Institutes. The participating company benefits in terms of its growth, the evolution of its strategic research and development and the creation of new knowledge that it can use to generate commercial advantage.   • Funding Available: Overall budget €70.2 billion
  • Focus: Addressing societal challenges

Horizon 2020 is the European Commission’s proposal for a 70.2 billion euro research and innovation funding programme for 2014-2020. With Industrial Leadership as one of the three pillars of the programme, UCD Earth Institute will work closely with industry to bring together resources and knowledge across different fields, technologies and disciplines to address the key challenges, as details of specific elements of the overall programme are developed.

  • Funding Agency: Irish Research Council
  • Funding Available: Research Council will provide 2/3 of funding for awards. 1/3 co-funding required from industry
    • Masters Total Value - €24,000 per annum up to 2 Years
    • PhD Total Value - €24,000 per annum up to 4 years
    • Postdoctoral Value - €39,640 per annum for 2 years
    • Focus: Collaboration focused through Masters, PhD and Postdoctoral researchers

The focus of the Marie Curie Actions from a commercial point of view is to foster innovation and help to train the next generation of research entrepreneurs. Funding is targeted through a number of programmes which include

  • Initial Training Networks (ITN)
  • Industry-Academia Partnerships & Pathways (IAPP)
