Professor John Sheridan BE, MSc EE, DPhil.

Research Interests:

  1. Fundamentals of optics and the electromagnetic theory of diffraction.
  2. Optical Signal Processing, including applications of the Wigner Distribution Function and the Fractional Fourier and Linear Cannonical Transforms.
  3. Optical encryption.
  4. Surface relief diffraction gratings and refractive melted microlens arrays.
  5. Holographic materials, photopolymers, holographic optical elements and holographic data storage.
  6. Optical fiber Bragg grating sensors.
  7. Optical metrology including confocal microscopy, holographic interferometry and speckle photography and interferometry.
  8. Solar light concentrators and energy conversion.
  9. Optoelectronics and applied optical engineering.
  10. Fast numerical algorithms for the design and analysis of optical systems.
