This Masters programme will provide a framework of courses and modules to help understand, contextualize and position your existing experience within a 21st century discourse. The course responds to current and future global issues relating to creativity, technology, and innovation.
The MA in Education (Creative Technology Innovation) has been developed by the SMARTlab at University College Dublin. It follows the SMARTlab method for ethical and socially engaged transformative models of collaborative scholarly exploration. Within this context it provides a basis in which students will learn theoretical underpinnings of creativity and innovation
This programme is suitable for self-directed learners willing to engage in re-defining the boundaries of their discipline and keen to develop their theoretical understanding and practice in an area related to CTI. Applicants are expected to have an undergraduate degree and previous practical experience, with access to tools, which will help inform their studies and learning.
Delivery is through lectures, workshops, and seminars, with a focus on theory and methodology. Throughout the programme students will submit summative assignments and essays together with attendance online or in person at seminars. The programme culminates in a major practice-based project within a specific area of research (defined by student(s) and supervisor(s)) within the key areas of:
- SMART and Sustainable fashion
- Community Arts & Technology
- Performing Arts & Technology
- Technology Innovation for Independent Living
- Medicine and the Arts
The aim of the SMARTlab is to work across sectors and disciplines to instigate and support positive cultural change. SMARTlab insists upon an ethical and socially responsible community collaboration model, which informs and enriches the academic domain by encouraging teams of artists and cultural sector creatives to work closely across disciplinary boundaries to invent new models and tools for learning.
