Dr Deirdre Raftery has won an IRC 'Decade of Centenaries' research award, announced on 19th April 2016. Her project is 'SEQUESTERED: Loreto the Green and 1916'

UCD School of Education Adds Mential Health and Wellbeing Strand to the Professional Diploma in Educational Studies

As part of the 30-credit part-time programme, students will take two core modules in this strand: Mindfulness in Schools and Mental Health and Wellbeing.

UCD School of Education Associate Professor, Shane Bergin, Collaborates with Leading EU Researchers on the Bratislava Declaration for Young Researchers

The declaration is aimed at changing how scientific research is conducted at the grassroots level and has been submitted to the ministers for science and research across the current 28 EU member states.

Paula will be completing research on Informed Consent processes involving children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

UCD School of Education Professor, Dympna Devine, Co-Authors Journal Article About Children's Rights and Pedagogy

Professor Dympna Devine, UCD School of Education, and Dr Deirdre McGillicuddy, Marino Institute of Education, have published a paper in the journal 'Oxford Review of Education.'  The paper foregrounds the centrality of pedagogy to the realisation of children's rights as articulated in the UNCRC.

Dr Jennifer Symonds and Dr Linda Hargreaves have published research in The Journal of Early Adolescence entitled 'Emotional and motivational engagement at school transition: a qualitative stage-environment fit study.' 

UCD School of Education Associate Professor, Jennifer Symonds, Publishes Paper on Adolescent Mental Health

This study examined how adolescents' anxiety, depressive symptoms and positive functioning developed as they transferred from comprehensive school to further education, employment or training, or became NEET (not in education, employment, or training), at age 16 years, in the longitudinal English national cohort study Next Steps (N = 13,342).

The Northern Ireland Education Minister, Peter Weir, has welcomed a report evaluating the effectiveness of Nurture Provision in primary schools in Northern Ireland led by Dr Seaneen Sloan.

 UCD School of Education Professor, Dympna Devine, Awarded Funding for Research on Coastal Communities

The project addresses education, knowledge and identity formation among girls and boys across three generations (as perceived by youth, parents and grandparents) of diverse ethnic backgrounds in coastal communities in five countries.

UCD School of Education Faculty, Dr Conor Calvin, Receives Prestigious Teaching Hero Award 

Dr Conor Galvin, UCD School of Education / College of Social Sciences & Law, has been named as a recipient of a National Forum for Teaching & Learning / Union of Students in Ireland Teaching Hero Award for 2016. He will receive his award along with colleagues from a number of other Irish HEIs at a gala event in Dublin Castle on 27 October.

UCD School of Education Graduates Present Papers at the National Conference of the Psychological Society of Ireland

Six Graduates of the MA in Educational Psychology class of 2016 presented papers in two symposia at the National Conference of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), which was held in Athlone on 10th-12th November 2016.

UCD School of Education to Offer New Post Graduate Diploma in School Leadership in conjuntion with other Irish Universities

The Department of Education and Skills (DES) and the Centre for School Leadership (CSL) launch a new Post Graduate Diploma in School Leadership (PDSL) for aspiring school leaders jointly awarded by University of Limerick (UL), the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) (including St Angela’s) and University College Dublin (UCD) with additional academic support by Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).
