Quality Assurance and Teacher Education in Europe Colloquium

This colloquium will bring together academics, policy makers and other stakeholders from across Europe with a view to promoting a research agenda in quality assurance in teacher education at European level. The colloquium is organised by Dr. Judith Harford of the School of Education, UCD, in conjunction with the Teacher Education Policy in Europe Network (TEPE) and the Teacher Education Research Network of the European Educational Research Association (EERA) . Funding for the colloquium has been provided by EERA and University College Dublin. Keynote speakers include Professor John Coolahan, OECD and World Bank consultant and Professor Hannele Niemi, Professor of Education and former Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, University of Helsinki. The proceedings of the colloquium, Quality Assurance and Teacher Education in Europe: Challenges and Expectations, will be published by Peter Lang (Oxford) and edited by Dr Harford of UCD and Professor Brian Hudson of the University of Dundee.

Conference Venue
The conference is held in the Legal Education Centre which is directly opposite the entrance to the School of Education, University College Dublin.

Refreshments will be served in the School of Education building. The conference reception on Monday 21st June will be held in the University Common Room, Newman Building, University College Dublin.
ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
Please note that the following accommodation options are suggestions only and all delegates are responsible for their own accommodation arrangements.
Option 1: On Campus
There is a residence opposite the building where the colloquium will take place where ensuite rooms are 55 euros per night for Bed and Breakfast. A number of rooms have been booked under Dr. Harford’s name. Option 2: Stillorgan Park Hotel
This 4 star hotel is a 15 minute walk from the university (located on a motor way). Rooms are 89 euros single and 99 double room, including breakfast (If booking with this hotel, quote UCD as this is a special rate for the university). There is a shuttle bus which can bring guests from the hotel to the university.

Option 3: Stauntons on the Green
This 3-star Georgian hotel, part of the Castle Hotel Group, is on St Stephen’s Green, right in the heart of the city. Single rooms are 84 euros and 119 for a double, including breakfast. If you are staying for a few days and wish to see Dublin, this is a beautiful hotel within easy access of all the sites. There are also a number of regular bus routes a few minutes from the hotel to the university.
