Assoc. Professor Deirdre Raftery ( is an elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (UK), a Fulbright Scholar in the Humanities (2015-2016), a Life Member of the University of Cambridge, and a former Fellow of the University of Oxford. From 2009-2014 she was joint editor of the international History of Education, the leading SSCI-indexed journal in the field. She serves on the Editorial Boards of History of Education, History of Education and Children's Literature, and Espacio, Tiempo y Educacion. She has brought four major conferences in the History of Education to UCD.

Assoc Professor Judith Harford ( has collaborated with Professor Tom O’ Donoghue from the University of Western Australia on a number of publications in the history of education, life history and comparative education fields.

Dr Áine Mahon ( is Assistant Professor in the School of Education. She is a former Fulbright Scholar, Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow and Simon Research Fellow. Áine teaches across the PME, M.Ed. and M.Sc., specializing in the Philosophy of Education.
