Testimonials
What past graduates have to say:
I chose to study engineering as I loved physics and maths in school and thought I might like to pursue a career in this area. Studying electrical engineering taught me to approach problems in a logical, analytical manner, allowing me to develop skills which are valued in a variety of industries. An electrical engineering degree from UCD opens the door to the exciting, dynamic and challenging energy industry. I graduated in 2014 and I am currently working in the power system studies group in ESB International, where I apply the skills and knowledge which I acquired in college on a daily basis.

(Winner of the SSE Airtricity Electrical Engineering Gold Medal in 2014, for being the top ME Electrical Energy Engineering student)
Testimonials
What past graduates have to say:
Irene Danti Lopez
The ME in Electrical Energy Engineering provided me with a broad view and understanding of the electric power sector: from electricity markets to power electronics. Through the ME, I had the opportunity to undertake a work placement at the head research office of Electricite de France (EDF), France’s main electricity provider, an invaluable opportunity for the development of my career. Moreover, the programme’s close relation to the Electricity Research Centre provides students with substantial exposure to key companies and institutions in the energy sector. On the whole, studying at UCD equipped me with the necessary tools to confidently start my career in electrical energy engineering.

(Winner of the SSE Airtricity Electrical Engineering Gold Medal in 2015, for being the top ME Electrical Energy Engineering student)
Testimonials
What past graduates have to say:
Ciaran Hegarty
I completed the two year ME Electrical Energy programme in May 2015. I really enjoyed the programme and the wide breadth of modules that we completed, such as control theory, power systems operations and power electronics. It gave a well-rounded education into all relevant subjects while the research project also gave us a chance to delve deeper into a relevant topic that interested us. The work placement as part of the programme was a great opportunity to gain relevant experience in the energy sector, applying the technical theory we had learned during modules in a business environment. I completed my placement with EirGrid, the Irish Transmission System Operator. Since graduating I have started working with EirGrid in the Operational Services and Performance team.
Ciaran Hegarty. Graduated 2015
