Biography:
| Fionnuala Dillane is a graduate of NUI Galway and Trinity College Dublin. She joined the School in September 2006 from the School of English, Trinity College where she was Broad Curriculum teaching fellow from 2002-05 and an IRCHSS post-doctoral fellow from 2005-06. |
Research Interests
| My main research interests include nineteenth-century literature and culture, the work of George Eliot and the mid-late nineteenth- century periodical press; history and theory of genre, in particular, the historical novel. Interests in critical and cultural theory, memory and narrative in contemporary British and Irish fiction. I have recently completed a monograph on George Eliot's work as an editor, journalist and serial fiction writer, with the provisional title Before George Eliot: Marian Evans and the periodical press. Most recently published work includes articles on George Eliot's journalism and Women journalists at the fin-de-siecle. I acted recently as external reader for the following journals: Journal of Victorian Culture; Victorian Review; Irish University Review |
