Biography:

Emilie Pine joined the School of English, Drama and Film in the spring of 2008. Prior to this she lectured for two years at the University of York, following the completion of her PhD in Irish Theatre and Film at Trinity College, Dublin.

Emilie is a reviewer for Irish Theatre Magazine and is also on the Board of Directors of the Durrell School of Corfu

Research Interests

Emilie Pine¿s main research interests are in the interdisciplinary study of modern Irish culture, with a specific focus on memory studies, theatre and film. Her book, The Politics of Irish Memory: Performing Remembrance in Contemporary Irish Culture is published by Palgrave Macmillan.

Emilie is currently writing a cultural history of Ireland in the 1930s and is the Irish Fulbright Scholar to UC Berkeley for 2010.

Emilie Pine teaches modern drama and other literature.

Research:

I am currently supervising doctoral work on Marina Carr; representations of English characters in Irish literature; performances of masculinity in Irish drama; and literary and theatrical representations of child abuse. I am interested in supervising work on Irish literature, modern drama and memory studies.
