Dr. Regan completed an M.A in English and Scottish Literature at the University of Glasgow, and was awarded an M.Phil with distinction, on completion of a course entitled ‘Romanticism and the Forms of Modernity’. His doctoral thesis, completed at the University of Cambridge in July 2009, was entitled
Versification, Historicity, and the Romantic Culture of Circumscription.
This charted the intersections between versification and historicity in the long Eighteenth century. He is now a post-doctoral researcher working on an IRCHSS funded project on Romantic-period historiography and imaginative literature. His research interests are in the poetics of the Romantic and late-Enlightenment periods, prosody and versification, literary historicity, historiography, Wordsworth, Scott, Byron, Ferguson, Hemans and Landon. He has researched, lectured on and supervised dissertations on all of these. He has published in The Times Literary Supplement, Victorianism and Romanticism on the Net, Women: A Cultural Review, Time Out New York, and The List magazine in Edinburgh.
