Guidelines and Rules Governing Undergraduate Essay Submission in the UCD School of English, Drama and Film
For all undergraduate students of English, Drama, Film and Irish Studies
Submission and late submission of coursework/essays
Please note that coursework/essays should be submitted to the School of English office by the deadlines which will have been given to you.
Following the procedures approved by the Academic Council in October 2005, the penalties for late submission will be as follows:
- 1 week late (from Day 1 after submission deadline, up to and to including Day 7, i.e, if an essay is submitted on a Tuesday, the week late should include the following Tuesday):
Penalty: Minus 2 grades: A+ → A-
- 2 weeks late (from Day 8 up to and to including Day 14)
Penalty: Minus 4 grades: A+ → B
Coursework/essays that are more than two weeks late may not be graded.
If lateness is due to illness, bereavement etc, then you must contact the module coordinator as soon as possible, and provide evidence of the context. In cases of bereavement or serious illness, you are best advised to contact the BA Programme office as soon as possible where you will be asked to complete an Extenuating Circumstances form.
