Terms of Reference

  • Review current UCD policies, and staff and student data, related to Ethnic Diversity & Inclusion;
  • Compare UCD policies, and staff and student data, with Universitas 21 member institutions;
  • Develop an action plan to enhance UCD policies and data collection in Ethnic Diversity & Inclusion to support the Internationalisation strategy and Strategic Objective 5 by, ideally, fostering a more integrated university

Programme of Work

  • Construction of a clear definition of ‘Ethnicity’ and categories that could be used for future UCD data collection on staff and students;
  • Analysis of existing ethnic diversity data on staff and students based primarily on ‘citizenship’ and ‘nationality’;
  • Review of best practice in terms of ethnic diversity and inclusion in Universitas 21 member institutions via website search of all universities, and personal contact with representatives from sample of U21 members based on comparability with UCD and/or examples of best practice;
  • Devise and implement measures to enable more ethnic inclusion among staff and students at UCD based on results of surveys and focus groups.
