Society of General Microbiology Irish Division Conference
Day 1 - Microbial Pathogenicity and the Regulation of Virulence
National and International speakers will give presentations on a variety of different pathogens and on how their research has furthered our understanding of how these microorganisms cause disease. The first session will focus on Microbial Pathogenicity and on how a variety of different microorganisms use an array of virulence factors to cause infection. The second session will focus on the issue of virulence gene regulation and specifically how different microorganisms coordinate the expression of virulence genes during infection of the host.
Day 2 - Postgraduate Presentations and New Frontiers in Microbiology
On day two of the meeting there will be two sessions that focus on current research carried out by postgraduate students and presentations from speakers who work at the forefront of Microbiology in Industry and the Food and Health sector. Session one will comprise of offered presentations from postgraduate students carrying out research in any field of microbiology. Session two will feature invited speakers who will focus on the critical role that microbiology graduates play in society across a variety of sectors as well as outlining the future challenges and opportunities for our discipline.
