Electromechanics in Biosystems WorkshopThe coupling between electrical signals and mechanical motion is present in many biological systems and materials. With the development of nanoscale tools to study electromechanics, this phenomenon can be probed at the molecular level. Recent studies of electromechanics in single collagen fibrils, glycine crystals, and virus macrophages are opening doors to exploiting this functional property of organic materials in actuating, sensing, and energy harvesting applications. This workshop aims to bring together experts in the field in order to understand the functional role of electromechanics in biosystems. This workshop was made possible through the generous support of Science Foundation Ireland.
