teaching & research | teaching programmes

The EWI works to mainstream teaching programmes around such thematic areas within UCD as well as on egalitarian theory and on equality sensitive research methodologies. It seeks to develop interdisciplinary and pluridisciplinary teaching within the cognate fields of the university. The mainstreaming is pursued at undergraduate, postgraduate and outreach levels through the EWI Horizons electives, EWI Marie Curie transfer of knowledge programme and the identification of EWI relevant modules in existing courses. The mainstreaming of new teaching programmes is supported by Irish Aid (Development Education Grant Scheme) and the EU Sixth Framework Programme. The thematic clusters also provide a focus for the parallel development of research programmes both within UCD and with partners internationally. This interfacing of both research and teaching around issues of equality, global justice and human rights is most evident in the implementation of the EWI Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge programme.
