Students and the UCD Institute of Food and Health
At the UCD Institute of Food and Health, we are committed not only to the creation of new knowledge and advances in food and health, but also to the education and training of future generations of scientists.
Staff at the UCD Institute of Food and Health contribute to a wide variety of undergraduate courses and provide training and supervision for postgraduate students.
About postgraduate study
Students are awarded a PhD on the basis of research, carried out under the supervision of a professor or lecturer and submitted in a thesis to University College Dublin.
Find out more about applying for postgraduate study, including UCD's entry requirements for research PhD candidates.
The Food Graduate Development Programme
The Food Graduate Development Programme is a training initiative for postgraduate students working on projects funded by the Department of Agriculture’s Food Institutional Research Measure (FIRM).
Each year, participating students explore different modules of food research, ranging from food regulation and the global food sector to entrepreneurship and statistics.
UCD, UCC and Teagasc coordinate the programme.
